A longer than usual guided sit for this podcast, but a pretty typical guided sit at an SSIMC class. There is no substitute for sitting with others, meditating; even the best podcast pales in comparison to full bandwidth practice in a space set up to accommodate group meditation of the mindfuling sort.

Practice is repetition but that doesn't mean it is monotonous. In fact if you are seeing monotony then you are not really seeing the truth. But this too takes practice. A little bit every day, formally, allows flexibility to eventually be available. New, old, in-between practitioners all wake up over and over again. Some more kindly than others. Some more deeply than others. Some more consistently than others. So what? Develop your own practice reality — that's what.

Standing mindfully is a great practice integral to rounding-out your practice. Toning and balancing and deeply human. It may seem especially weird at first but test it out, try it out over time, repeatedly, practice and see for ye self!

Concentration practice, whatever the degree or depth or flavor, is a required component of mindful meditation practice when hitting all 8 folds. In the West, in part because of translation from the Pali and our inherent bias towards the words "concentration" and "serenity" there can be a lot of confusion regarding the relationship of the practice of serenity and concentration. In a wise concentrated state great equanimity is revealed. Have a cup o' tea (green is best…) or if you are not too wired a cup o' coffee to orient your tired or sluggy self toward awareness.

Breath Awareness even when on the Summer Time schedule, beware of lovely trance states too, perhaps especially this season.
