Welcome to Mindfuling, the podcast with Paul M. Cheevers

Mindfulness meditation is not a thing — it is an activity of doing. It is key to an eight faceted practice capable of freeing us from discontent. Being mindful is being deeper than the ocean, stronger than practiced aversion, quicker than chronic bad habits and easier than pi(e)!

Standing mindfully is a great practice integral to  rounding-out your practice. Toning and balancing and deeply human. It may seem especially weird at first but test it out, try it out over time, repeatedly, practice and see for ye self!

Concentration practice, whatever the degree or depth or flavor, is a required component of mindful meditation practice when hitting all 8 folds. In the West, in part because of translation from the Pali and our inherent bias towards the words "concentration" and "serenity" there can be a lot of confusion regarding the relationship of the practice of serenity and concentration. In a wise concentrated state great equanimity is revealed. Have a cup o' tea (green is best…) or if you are not too wired a cup o' coffee to orient your tired or sluggy self toward awareness.

Breath Awareness even when on the Summer Time schedule, beware of lovely trance states too, perhaps especially this season. The greatest wealth, the greatest peace is sometimes called contentment with what actually is, regardless of particulars. Peace is in the present. This doesn't been approval or acceptance of what is going on it means being genuinely present to what is going on.

Wise speech supports your formal meditation. You can practice it anywhere, including your own mind.

"Words known to be true, beneficial and endearing and agreeable to others, one has a sense of the proper time for speaking. Why? One has sympathy for living beings….

The Fuel Of Gossip, FOG. Just because there is energy and oomph to a story doesn't mean it is wise to engage, tell or perpetuate a version of a story. Unverified second hand information presented as truth is delusion and can be wrapped up a greed and fear. Gossip is a powerfully blinding toxin to the heart and mind, which has to include the body.

Mindfulness is not what you think. Or, don't believe everything you think. Or, get over your self. Or, I Get confused by my thoughts and actually believe them to be truer than true.

Ya, it is a rabbit hole if you stay thinking, reading, listening to others talk. Learn to practice being fully Mindful across the foundations and this all makes sense. It is clear beyond words.
